Duwane Coates is an Afro-Cuban filmmaker, video artist, photographer, painter, and art conservator based in Miami, FL. His work is mostly about migration, neo-Black identity, racism in Cuba and Afro-Cuban culture. Coates is inspired by the life and work of the Cuban filmmaker, Nicholas Guillen Landrian. His work has been exhibited extensively in Europe. He attended the University of Arts of Cuba/Instituto Superior de Arte.
