Miami MoCAAD 2024 Highlights
New Art Experiences
- Knight New Work Premiere
- Premiered "The Day I Heard the Sounds of the World" by Marielle Plaisir on March 21 at the Black Archives - Historic Lyric Theater.
- Interactive Mural & Soccer Game Launch
- Unveiled "Overtown Pitch: Game Changers", a mural celebrating soccer icons, alongside a digital penalty kick soccer game, on June 27.
- Artist Conversations & Exhibitions
- Soul Basel, Miami Art Week, and Art of Black
- Premiered the interactive mural exhibition Telling Overtown Stories, Saying Their Names during Miami Art Week. This included a virtual reality art exhibition and documentary, "Art Connecting Communities: Overtown and Coral Gables".
- Documentary Screenings
- Debuted "This Life: Black Life in the Time of Now", a documentary exploring contemporary Black existence, at events like the 9th Annual Urban Film Festival and community screenings at libraries.
Community Outreach
- ARt+Tech Workshops
- Hosted free workshops blending art and technology for middle and high school students and adults at libraries across Miami-Dade, including Naranja, West Kendall, and others.
- Hispanic Heritage Month Programming
- Highlighted Hispanic artists of the African Diaspora, such as Daniel Lind-Ramos, Patricia Encarnación, and Renell Medrano, through newsletters and social media.
- Give Miami Day
- Raised critical funds to support Black Diasporic art. Thank you to our incredible donors for making it a success!
Innovative Digital and Virtual Offerings
- Documentary and Virtual Reality Art Exhibitions
- Explored themes of contemporary Black life through This Life: Black Life in the Time of Now and virtual exhibitions like Art Connecting Communities.
- Interactive Online Presence
