Overtown Pitch: Game Changers Mural

Overtown:

To honor those who have championed change, equality, and inclusivity in soccer, and to celebrate Miami's role as host of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Miami Museum of Contemporary Art of the African Diaspora (Miami MoCAAD) commissioned artist Stefan Smith to create a groundbreaking mural titled "Overtown Pitch: Game Changers” at the Carver building located at 801 NW 3rd Avenue, Miami, Fl 33136 in Overtown. Through an innovative blend of art and technology, the mural features an augmented reality and digital component, inviting viewers to engage with the stories of Black soccer players who have made indelible marks on the sport as well as engage in a shootout soccer game.

For the mural Overtown Pitch: Game Changers, Stefan, a dedicated soccer fan, was inspired by the Miami Edison High Girls Soccer Team, whose championship victories bring pride and hope to the community. Most of the Miami Edison team are members of the Little Haiti Football Club, the only free soccer program in the state, which provides free support to over two hundred girls and boys ages 5 to 19.
