Juan Roberto Diago
Juan Roberto Diago (1971- ) is a Afro-Cuban contemporary painter who employs the use of mixed mediums to create pieces that showcase a revisionist history of Cuba. Taking inspiration from Cuban history in relation to African culture Diago reflects on decades of slavery and colonialism in Cuba and its effects on Africans in Cuba back then an even now. His work has been shown all over the world at events such as Venice Biennale and the International Contemporary Art Exhibition in Paris. As well as having collections in countries such as Italy, Chile, and Switzerland.
